Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@coastalmainehikeandbike.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Yes. While there are not many dedicated bike lanes or bike paths in the Kennebunks, the roads in this area are generally safe for biking. Most popular cycling routes include a paved shoulder and the roads are relatively calm. Drivers around here are generally accustomed to sharing the road with cyclists. If you rent from us, we will help you find a safe and scenic biking route. And if you participate in a bike or e-bike tour, our guide will ensure the entire group navigates safely and confidently from start to finish. During all our years of operation, we haven't experienced a single bike-related traffic incident.

The Eastern Trail — a multi-use path featuring 22 off-road miles between Kennebunk and South Portland, Maine  — is accessible from trailheads about 6.5 to 8 miles from the Coastal Maine Hike and Bike Shop. Our rental team can provide a map and directions there. You can also arrange to have your bikes delivered to the Eastern Trail for an additional fee. Call us at 207-967-6065 or email info@coastalmainehikeandbike.com to set it up.

The Bridle Path is another off-road biking option in the Kennebunks. This scenic nature trail follows the Mousam River for about three miles from the beach area to downtown Kennebunk. The lower section of the Bridle Path, however, can be quite bumpy, with rocks and roots. You may want to walk your bike between Sea Road and Western Avenue.

Yes, free parking is available in the lot directly in front of our shop, but it fills quickly on busy summer days. Additional paid parking can be found in various nearby lots throughout town.

Customers will receive a full refund or credit with 24 hours or more notice of cancellation. Customers will also receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Contact us by phone to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows will be charged the full price.

Tipping your tour guide is a common and appreciated way to say thank you for a great experience. It goes directly to your guide as a token of appreciation for their effort in making your tour enjoyable and engaging. If your guide provided exceptional service or went the extra mile, leaving a little extra is a generous way to show your gratitude.

Yes, we offer two-hour private and corporate tours at $99 per person for standard bikes and $109 per person for e-bikes. Each tour includes bottled water and a relaxed, personalized experience—ideal for families, couples, or company outings. To book, just give us a call at 207-967-6065.

Absolutely! While our tours are for ages 12 and up, we offer tag-along bikes, Topeak child seats, and Burley trailers so younger kids can still be part of the rental experience and join in on the fun.

Yes, we require all participants who are 18+ to sign a waiver and all children to have their parent/guardian fill out the waiver for them.

If there is inclement weather that makes riding unsafe, we will cancel our tours for the safety of our riders. We’ll do our best to notify you as early as possible and keep you updated on any changes. Your safety is our top priority!
