Itinerary
All times are estimates
- 8:45 a.m. Arrive at Coastal Maine Hike and Bike at least 15 minutes prior to tour start.
- Meet your bike guide
- Sign safety waivers (if you haven't already)
- Get fitted for bikes and helmets
- Receive safety briefing from guide
- 9 a.m. Head out for scenic Maine bicycle tour!
- 10:15 a.m. Reach turnaround point — bathrooms available.
- 11 a.m. Return to bike shop enlightened and energized for a day of fun in and around Kennebunkport.

Check-in Details
Please arrive at least 15-minutes early to check in and get fitted for bikes and helmets. Parking should be plentiful in front of the bike shop, 8 Western Ave., Kennebunk, Maine. Pay for parking at kiosks. If parking lot is full, you may park for free at 30 North St., a .6-mile walk from the bike shop.
Health & Safety
Helmets are required (and will be provided). You will sign a safety waiver before commencing the tour. Participants should be comfortable riding a bicycle for two hours or more with frequent breaks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this tour experience on the road?
Yes, it is, and we share the road with traffic. It is simply impossible to plot an off-road bicycle tour along this section of the Maine coast; the roads are too old and narrow for dedicated bike lanes. However, Kennebunk and Kennebunkport are known as bike-friendly communities. Summer traffic moves slowly and drivers watch out for cyclists and pedestrians. Furthermore, our guides are all experienced riders, trained to provide careful instruction and observation to keep you and your group-members safe along the route. Coastal Maine Hike and Bike has a spotless safety record. Please call if you have any concerns (207-967-6065).
Are there any hills?
Yes, there are a few hills towards the end of the tour. Riders of average ability tend to have no problems with them. Our cruiser and hybrid bicycles offer lower gears to make the hills easier. If you prefer to walk your bike up the hills, you will encounter no judgment from your tour guide, who will ensure you reach the top safely.
We ride at the pace of our slowest rider!
If you prefer a less physical experience, consider booking the 2 p.m. electric bike tour. E-bikes make the hills disappear!
Is the tour private?
No. You will share the tour with other groups. We take out up to 10 participants at a time.

Can a child under 12 participate if they're a really, really good cyclist?
Due to the length of the tour, traffic, and hills, we will not take children below 12 as cyclists on our daily non-private tours. We can provide child seats and trailers for an additional fee, however. Please call or email for details: 207-967-6065 or email info@coastalmainehikeandbike.com.
