Kennebunkport Bicycle Tour and Tidepool Excursion
Join us for a scenic family-friendly bicycle tour of the historic Kennebunkport coastline, stopping midway for an up-close encounter with the fascinating animals and plants that inhabit our local tidepools.

Explore the Maine Coast's Hidden Treasures
We're so excited to partner with Coastal Carol of Coast Encounters -- the area's premier tidepool guide -- for this unique bicycle tour!
Our local guide will lead you and your family on a scenic six-mile bicycle ride along the breathtaking Kennebunkport coastline. We'll pause at several picturesque and historical points along the way for sightseeing and photos.
At the halfway point, we'll stop just off Vaughn Island in Cape Porpoise to meet with Coastal Carol, who'll take the group out among the tidepools to discover what lives beneath the seaweed and rocks. This area is only accessible at low tide and is best navigated with the help of an expert guide. You'll be amazed at the diverse ecosystem you'll discover and captivated by Carol's educational and entertaining explanation.
The ride leaves at 7 a.m., when traffic is light, the air is cool, and the tide is low -- ideal conditions for biking and tidepool exploring.

Itinerary
All times are estimates
- 6:45 a.m., arrive at Coastal Maine Hike and Bike at least 15 minutes prior to tour start.
- Meet your bike guide
- Sign safety waivers (if you haven't already)
- Get fitted for bikes and helmets
- 7 a.m. Head out for scenic bike tour!
- 7:45 a.m. Arrive off Vaughn Island for tidepool encounter.
- 9:45 a.m. Leave tidepool area to continue bicycle tour.
- 10:30 a.m. Return to bike shop feeling invigorated and enlightened!

- 7- or 8- speed cruiser or hybrid bicycle (child-sized bikes available for younger participants)
- Bike helmet
- Biking guide and tidepool guide
- Water shoes for tidepool portion
What's Not Incuded
- Water (recommended, for sale separately at the bike shop)
- Comfortable, closed-toe shoes for biking portion *required
- Camera or smartphone for pictures
Age Requirements
Participants should be at least 10 years old and able to ride approximately six relatively flat, on-road miles amid light traffic. Children should be able to respond to safety directions from parents/guardians and guide.
